5 Years of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Tenggara Strategics hosted a seminar together with The Jakarta Post, the CSIS and Prasetiya Mulya University on the implementation of the Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The seminar provided a platform for experts and key figures from Indonesia and China, invited with the help of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, as well as the public to explore opportunities for further improvements by identifying challenges in the partnership implementation.

The seminar’s objectives were to provide a platform for various stakeholders to review the implementation of the partnership between China and Indonesia in the past five years and provide constructive suggestions for future implementation, to improve public knowledge and awareness of China’s and Indonesia’s political, economic, and social sectors and how the two countries can complement each other in these sectors and to enrich public understanding about China’s and Indonesia’s perspectives on the political, economic and social sectors and provide insight as to how both countries can learn from each other’s points of view.

The seminar hosted a number of influential figures as its speakers, including Indonesian Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, Indonesian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Indonesia Xiao Qian, China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia chairman Gong Bencai and former Indonesian deputy minister of defense Lt. Gen. (ret) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
