The Indonesian government acknowledges the importance of renewable energy for the national energy supply as well as protecting the environment, having pledged to reach net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2060 or sooner. At Tenggara Strategics, we support the government’s commitment to renewable energy through various projects that aim to provide insights and drive meaningful action around the renewable energy market.
RE Invest Indonesia
RE Invest Indonesia is a multi-stakeholder platform established by Tenggara Strategics in cooperation with the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) to bring together renewable energy players from Indonesia, China, Japan, and South Korea. First started in 2021, RE Invest Indonesia 2023 is the third international renewable energy investment forum of its kind. RE Invest Indonesia 2023 seeks to bring up a discussion of the opportunities that spring from the Indonesian government’s environmental commitments to achieve net zero emission target by 2060, particularly in realizing the national electricity goal of phasing down fossil fuels by 2050 and state electricity firm PLN’s 2021-2030 electricity procurement plan (RUPTL).

Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP)
The Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) is a new model for international cooperation to combat climate change established in 2022. Members of this partnership, the International Partner Groups (IPG), pledged US$20 billion in funding to finance Indonesia's energy transition projects. However, this novel partnership into the climate change issue is met by unprecedented risks and challenges. This policy paper aims to introduce JETP to a broader audience, starting with the background and necessity of the partnership, but also including an identification of the risks and challenges faced by JETP so that all stakeholders involved can take steps to mitigate the potential of failure for JETP Indonesia.
