Education Outlook: Towards Indonesia Emas 2045

November 18, 2024

The Indonesia Emas 2045 vision serves as a key national agenda, driving the country to maximize its demographic dividend as it approaches its centennial milestone. Achieving this goal requires a strong foundation in education, which plays a pivotal role in preparing Indonesia’s human resources to lead the nation toward sovereignty, progress, and prosperity.

As a philanthropic organization committed to advancing education, Tanoto Foundation actively supports the government—particularly relevant ministries and institutions—by providing evidence-based insights to strengthen efforts in promoting inclusive education for all. To this end, Tanoto Foundation collaborated with Tenggara Strategics to curate and compile a comprehensive book that brings together research from leading institutions, including CSIS Indonesia, the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS), and Filantropi Indonesia (FI).

This book compilation documents education policies across various administrative periods, drawing lessons learned that serve as valuable inputs for the new administration in shaping future governance of the education sector. It also highlights a range of initiatives undertaken by Tanoto Foundation and its fellow philanthropic partners in supporting the government’s mission to improve education in Indonesia.

The management of educational institutions, systems, and curricula in Indonesia presents unique challenges, given the country’s diverse regional and societal characteristics. These variations must remain a key consideration for the government in formulating strategies to improve the quality of education that is both inclusive and responsive to local contexts.

Equally important is the urgent need to enhance the quality of teachers, as they play a pivotal role in realizing the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. Tanoto Foundation remains committed to supporting efforts to improve the education sector through various programs designed to meet the needs of students and reflect the distinct characteristics of each region in the country.
